Procurement Director - Indirect and Finance
1. Position summary
Under the direction of the Purchasing VP, the Procurement Director for Indirect and Finance will have commercial responsibility of approximately $20 million in indirect spend over ~35 plants located in North America. Key categories include molds, wood, reinforcement materials, MRO, PPE, adhesives and tools.
Partner with Purchasing VP to support commodity managers in financial and analytical aspects of working with raw material suppliers.
The Procurement Director for Indirect and Finance will elaborate strategy plans, budgets, long-term value initiatives reporting and communicating with business and senior management.
2. Primary responsibilities
The Sourcing-Finance Director of Procurement will provide strategic approach to the total cost of ownership of her/his categories, balancing requirements such as cost, quality, service, safety, and security of supply.
In collaboration with operations, R&D, sales, and Marketing, the Procurement Director for Indirect and Finance will identify synergies, standardization opportunities and will lead cross-functional projects. She/he will also work together with Logistics to optimize the freight costs and patterns pertaining her/his categories.
She/he will ensure contract terms are aligned with our business requirements. Measuring performance and maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure efficient service and problem's resolution.
Continuously work on cost optimization by implementing RFPs, economies of scale analyses, should-cost models, supplier consolidation, low-cost country sourcing, preferred supplier programs, product/vendors development, e-Auctions, and raw material index agreements.
Conduct market analysis, peer company benchmarking and risk analyses by category.
She/he will conduct contract and supplier management ensuring process and regulations' compliance; will leverage incentives and suppliers with long term agreements and partnerships, considering risk management strategies and security of supply with terms, innovation, conditions, contingencies, and other remedies.
Maintain close relationships with buyers and planners to communicate and coordinate sourcing requirements and efforts.
Partner with and act as advisor to Purchasing VP and support management of $350M of raw material and indirect spend.
The Procurement Director for Indirect and Finance will support documenting and implementing processes, systems, technology, policy, and governance for sourcing.
Prepare annual budget recommendations, partnering with commodity managers to combine market and commodity knowledge. Explain variations to budget.
Maintain and develop raw material spend reporting package, consolidating data from multiple ERP systems into a single report.
Understand market forces and track various indices to ensure our costs are in line with market movements.
Maintain database and analysis that compares market and our cost variations.
Prepare monthly summary package for senior execs. Provide our Sales force with reporting on market drivers of our costs, related to raw materials and shipping, to facilitate finished good price discussions with our customers
Perform monthly accrual updates of supplier rebates, and partner with commodity managers to ensure timely rebate payment from suppliers
Quantify values of projects proposed by commodity managers, suppliers, internal operations, etc., and make recommendations
Oversee tracking and reporting of savings projects.
Evaluate supplier payment terms to ensure cohesion between our divisions. Make recommendations on terms improvements. Track impact of changes in discounts and days payable
Analyze savings opportunities related to potential acquisitions. Quantify results of actual acquisition savings and drive tracking.
Annually, analyze historic data and market info to make recommendations of forthcoming year standard costs.
Manage, coach, and develop 2-3 direct reports.
3. Professional skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor's in accounting or Finance. MBA preferred.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Procurement and Accounting or Finance roles.
- Logistics knowledge and experience a plus
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite. High-intermediate/expert level in MS Excel required
- Experience and comfort with presenting to senior-level executives
- Experience with managing direct reports required. Proven track record of coaching and development. Experience with remote management preferred.
- Highly analytical and detail oriented
- Strong track record of positive results with internal customers
- Experience with SAP, and/or Epicor, and/or AS400 a plus
- 10-15% travel
