Position Overview/ Responsibilities:

Digital Realty is currently looking for a Senior Engineer to join our IT Service Operations team to work closely with our Corporate Services, Operations, and other groups to implement and maintain quality and customer focused solutions.

Based on the nature of our industry, our solutions utilize and rely on a wide variety of technologies. As such, we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated person who can administer enterprise solutions as well as be flexible enough to explore revolutionary or “outside the box” ideas to get the job done. We need people who take pride in being a subject matter expert in their domain yet understand and explore the many other talents of IT; someone with expert knowledge of Cisco IOS and networking in general.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to collaborate with all aspects of the IT organization and its partners and users.
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people understand
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Design and implementation of network solutions
  • Excellent presentation skills; strong written and oral skills
  • Provide Tier 3 / SME and on-call support critical infrastructure. (Yes, this means working some odd hours to lessen impact on our customers)
  • Provide escalation point for resolving complex problems requiring advanced skills and research capability
  • Schedule and implement regular patches and upgrades per established process which includes working in coordination with operations, corporate services and information security teams
  • Maintain vendor relationships and ensure compliance with licensing and support agreements
  • Manage projects utilizing remote hands vendors and internal staff
  • Provide support knowledge sharing, authoring, and maintenance of system run books and documentation

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of Cisco products, their functionality, configuration and best practices
  • Advanced networking knowledge, with emphasis on Cisco networking solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of QOS, IPSLA, DMVPN, SD-WAN, MPLS, SIP, PRI, IPSEC
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure solutions, including AWS, Oracle Cloud, and Azure
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Nexus and UCS Platforms, including Hyperflex
  • Working knowledge of BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Spanning Tree
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows networking configuration and protocols
  • Experience with Cisco AnyConnect VPN
  • Experience with Cisco DNA
  • Experience with automation tools from a network perspective such as Ansible
  • Operational disciplines in systems management, change management, root cause analysis / problem management
  • Minimum five years experience as a network engineer responsible for a primarily Cisco based network

Preferred candidates meet the following skillsets:

  • Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and configuration
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds monitoring platform
